Can You Have an adventure holiday in the UK?

Are you an adrenaline junkie? Do you love nothing more than travelling the world in search of your next thrill? With travel abroad put on pause or cancelled for many of us in 2021, these exciting jaunts have had to take a back seat for now.

However, while you might not be able to hit the slopes in Whistler this winter or go diving in Australia, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy an action-packed adventure right here on home turf.

To inspire you, here are some UK-based outdoor holidays to add to the bucket list.

Plan your trip

Before you arrange your activities, you’ll need to think about the details. Consider when you want to travel. While some are planning holidays for 2021, things are still uncertain at the moment. Be sure to check travel restrictions due to the ongoing pandemic and make sure you know if you can visit the area from where you’re based.

If you ready for your trip must install UK based travel apps in your smart phone.

Also, consider how you’ll get around. One of the benefits of basing your adventure holiday in the UK is that you can drive to most places.

Driving in your own car is safer than taking public transport.

If you are a lover of historical places, I have a list of the best historical places in the UK which you must visit.

You could even consider investing in a camper van or motor home. This will be an added expense, so decide if it’s a worthwhile investment before you commit. But it could mean you could enjoy lots of cheaper holidays in the years to come as well. You’ll need to plan your finances to cover the cost of the van and look for deals.

From there, you can look at the different adventure-based holidays that the UK has to offer.

Places for adventure holidays in the UK

Hiking, Snowdonia

Thousands of walkers scale Snowdon in Wales each year. There are six main paths to choose from, including the Llanberis, which is the most popular among tourists and the least challenging path to the top of the mountain. For the more experienced hiker, there’s the Pyg and Miners’ tracks, that follow along, the circular route across tough terrain.

Due to the changeable weather on the mountain, you will need to be prepared to be flexible about when you try the climb. Check the weather forecast and plan the route that you want to attempt before you begin.

Mountain biking, the Lake District

Rugged hills and slopes make the Lake District ideal for mountain biking. There are many biking routes across the region, with enough to suit a range of levels and abilities.

Muncaster Fell is ideal for those who are new to mountain biking. This follows the La’al Ratty trainline and covers bridleways along one single track. Walna Scar is a fast single track that’s ideal for those who are confident mountain bikers, and Nan Bield Pass is for the experts who thrive on a challenge.

Skiing, Scotland

There are several ski resorts in Scotland and each of them offers challenging terrain and thrilling slopes. There’s Cairngorm Mountain Resort, with its stunning views and guaranteed snow, or if you love snowboarding, Glenshee Ski Centre offers the ideal mix of boarding and skiing.

Whatever challenge you’re up for, you’re sure to find thrilling adventures right on your doorstep. See what adrenaline-fuelled fun you’ll find here in the UK.
