This is How The Temple Was Built:
The present form of Tarkeshwar Mahadev Jaipur Temple was constructed at the time of the establishment of Jaipur city. Earlier, a small temple was built here for Swayambhu Shivalinga. Architect Vidyadhar Ji from Jaipur prepared the design of this temple.
History of Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple:
Jaipur was established in 1727. The city was founded by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Amer and named after him. At the time of its establishment, the name of Jaipur was Jaipar, which later became Jaipur. It is said that Shivalinga was established here even before Jaipur was established.
It is said that there used to be many palm trees where Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple is situated. Once, Vyas of Ambikeshwar Mahadev Temple stayed here while going to Sanganer. That was when he first saw the Shivalinga here.

Although devotees rush to this Shiva temple throughout the year, during the month of Sawan, long queues are formed to offer water to the Shivalinga. On Mondays of Sawan, devotees start lining up as early as 3 a.m. so that the Shivalinga can be consecrated when the temple opens.
