About Jagat Shiromani Temple Jaipur:
Sri Jagat Shiromani Temple Jaipur is one of the oldest temples in Amber City. It is located 500 m from Amer Fort and is a temple of Meera Bai and Krishna.
Though Meera Bai was a great devotee of Lord Krishna in childhood and always considered him her husband, she became the wife of Mewar king. This temple was constructed by Queen Kanakwati, wife of King Man Singh I, between 1599 and 1608 AD, in memory of her son Jagat Singh.
Jagat Shiromani Temple Jaipur History:
According to history, the statue of Lord Krishna in this temple is the same statue that Meera Bai used to worship in Mewar. The American rulers saved this statue from destruction during the Mughal war with Mewar and brought it safely to America.
The Architecture of Jagat Shiromani Temple Jaipur:
The Jagat Shiromani Temple in Jaipur is built in a special way called Nagara-style architecture. It has three main parts: a Sanctum, Vestibule, and Mandapa with windows. At the top is a three-story Garbha Griha with a Sikhara. The Mandapa has two floors. Inside, there’s a beautiful painting on the ceiling from the 17th century. The outside walls of Jagat Shiromani temple have sculptures of different gods and goddesses, making it pretty and special.
However, at the temple gate is a white marble arch supported on both sides by elephant carvings. The arch is made of the same marble and has colourful images of different gods carved out of it. A white marble idol of Lord Vishnu is also present in this temple.
